How to deal with Obnoxious Mutual Friend?

I'd be up front with Mike. Say something like "You know, I've heard from a person or two that you can be a little rough around the edges. You may want to let up a little." I'll bet he's trying too hard to fit in, but just missing the mark. I think he'd be glad to know.
