For all Mario fans, please answer this question?

Okay, so I have been playing Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES and I don't think anyone else has noticed but in the older version Mario had a red hat, RED OVERALLS, & A BLUE SHIRT. & Luigi had a green hat, GREEN OVERALLS & A BLUE SHIRT. Then I said, "Wow Mario and Luigi looked so much better like this". Then when super Mario Bros 3 rolled around they flipped flopped the colors. So now Mario and Luigi had the same color hats but now they both had blue overalls and red & green shirts. Why did they change the colors like that? I liked Mario & Luigi a lot more when their overall color matched the color of their hats and when they had wore blue shirts because to me they were a lot more bright and colorful that way. Also I was cleaning out my basement earlier today & in my basement closet, I found an old pair of clothes. It was a royal blue T-shirt and a matching royal blue shorts that had super Mario on it. I use to wear this outfit all the time when I was a kid & yes on my outfit Mario wore red overalls and a blue shirt and so this is the Mario that I grew up with & I remembered. Also on the TV show super Mario Bros super show, Mario and Luigi's overall colors matched the colors of their hats, this is the way it's suppose to be! So why did they flip flop the colors of the overalls and shirts of Mario & Luigi? Because it looked so much better the first time! & Why was this never explained on why they did that? What do you guys/girls think? Just go to google images & type in Super Mario Bros Super Show & you will see what I am talking about if you don't believe me! Thanks for answering!
